TGIF

I am SO excited it is Friday, because for the first time in months, I have a Saturday off!  Yipee! I'm going to get all sorts of things cleaned up and organized and I'm even having friends over for dinner.  I was at the grocery store this morning at 8:00 a.m. so that I could begin my dinner prep as soon as I leave work.  I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and a much needed break too!

P.S. - Don't forget to stop by the store on Saturday and buy a little something.  10% of your purchase will go to Beyond Batten Disease Foundation!

Rare Disease Day

This coming Saturday, February 26th we will be donating 10% of our proceeds to Beyond Batten Disease Foundation.  Charlotte Benson, who started this wonderful foundation is a dear customer of ours.  Please visit their website to learn about her family's story and Batten Disease.  Then come shop at Hayden Avery on Saturday and know it is for a good cause.

Evite

Obviously, I love invitations and stationery (or I wouldn't own a store).  I love to feel the texture of the paper, see the details of a font and take in fun color combinations.  Plus, real invitations are so much fun to receive in your mail box.  In the age of technology I think that real invitations and hand written thank you notes make even more of an impact.  I also understand the convenience of an evite in this day and age - we're busy people.  However, you can only image how much I had to laugh when a friend of mine sent me this link http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/evite with the definition of evite:

e·vite

[ih-vahyt] Show IPA
–verb (used with object), e·vit·ed, e·vit·ing. Archaic .
to avoid; shun.

Origin:
1495–1505; < Latin ēvītāre,  equivalent to ē- e- + vītāre  to avoid

Prentiss Douthis Wedding Invitation

With all the wedding invitation options out there, I have to say that I am still a sucker for a classic and traditional wedding invitation.  Prentiss Douthit does a great job of creating classic wedding invitations with a ever-so-slightly modern feel.  I recently had a bride pick out one such wedding invitation.  The black ink on the white card stock has such a classic feel and the embossed border and colored motif give it a slightly modern twist.  I think it was a lovely selection and I hope she loves it as much as I do.

Double the Fun

We got another part of our shipment from Seda France.
When you open the box and start unpacking it
everything smells wonderful!

In general, Seda France has the most wonderful packaging and my new favorite is their ceramic container.  I NEED this in my house!

And look - it's a double wick candle - even better!

TGIF

I hope everyone has a nice and relaxing weekend!  I'm looking forward to friends coming in town and going to see Bob Schneider.  I'm sure Bob is looking forward to me coming to his show too...

New Crane & Co. Wedding Album

Crane & Co. just released their new wedding album, and I must say, I do like it!  It's nice that they released this while their wedding invitation promotion is running (buy 75 or more wedding invitations and receive 25 for free).  These were a few of my favorite designs.  I like that they are clean and simple, but still make a statement.  The "Dalton Blue" color is such a pretty new card stock color (I might need to order some stationery on it).  I also like that they've incorporated some of their hand-drawn monograms and duograms on their new invitations.  It's always nice to have a new album with fresh designs.

New Anna Griffin

As previously promised, I am posting pictures of the new items I purchased at market in Atlanta.  The other day I received my shipment of assorted items from Anna Griffin.  The first item (that I want) are these blue and white invitations.  I love the scalloped edge, the inset of the actual printed area and that the back of the invitation also has the pretty blue and white patten printed.  They come in boxes of 10 invitations and envelopes for $24.

These are shoe bags and they each hold a pair of shoes.  Such a great gift!  They are $24 each and would also look great with a block monogram.

Obviously I was loving the blue and white color combination...  This is a set of 3 notepads for $18 (sorry about the bad photo).

Happy Valentine's Day!

I know it is the day after Valentine's Day (and this post was supposed to go out) - but yesterday was too crazy.  I found out that a dear friend and neighbor passed away after a long bout with cancer.  It puts things in perspective when you have news like that and I thought I would still go ahead and share some of my favorite Valentine Cards with you today.  The top three are by Snow & Graham and the bottom three are by Mr. Boddinton's Studio. Life lesson for the day: No matter what day it is, tell the ones you love that you're thinking about them and love them, because you never know what life may throw your way.

TGIF

Sorry I've been "MIA" -  I was working on a customer's Valentine cards.  And when I say "working" I mean tracing, cutting and lining 300 envelopes with red tissue.  I think I've developed carpal tunnel...  At least they look good and I finished the project!

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend - it is supposed to be in the 70's on Sunday here and I am REALLY looking forward to that.  I could really use a full weekend off though.  I've worked every Saturday since my "Christmas Break" (that would be 6 days a week).  PLEASE stop by the store on any upcoming Saturday so that I can stay busy (i.e.-entertained).
O.K. - sorry for the pity party.

Happy Valentine's Weekend!

Red & White

Here's some fun Crane & Co. boxed stationery that we have in-stock (white care with red hand-border or red card with white hand-border).  Perfect for writing Valentine's love notes or just for fun and spicy stationery for the rest of the year!

Baking Birthday

Because I don't have our invitations on our website (yet), I spend a fair amount of time scanning and emailing invitation ideas to our customers.  A perfect example is today I received an email from one of our customers who doesn't have time right now to come in the store to select an invitation for her daughter's birthday party.  Her daughter is going to have an all girls baking birthday party (sounds fun, right).  So here are just a few of the invitations that I have in-stock that I was able to email to her.  In addition to the invitations I have in-stock, I can also create a custom invitation that is perfect for the occasion.  Once she selects an invitation, we can then work out the wording for the invitation via email and then I can email her the proof.  Then all she has to do is come pick up her invitations once they are printed.  Easy, right?

TGIF

I hope you all have a wonderful (Super Bowl) weekend!
It's a quiet day at Hayden Avery because of the snow we received last night - Austin isn't used to snow!

Options, Options

I have a bride who came into the store recently and was interested in 2 Anna Griffin wedding invitations.  Because I did not have them in the store I ordered samples for her to look at in person.  The samples arrived today and they are both very pretty.  The top one measures 5" wide x 7" tall.  The second one is slightly larger at 5 1/4" wide x 7 3/4" tall.  In addition to these 2 Anna Griffin invitations, she has also selected a very pretty Crane & Co. wedding invitation as well.  All great options!

Spread The Love

I think the majority of us are cold.  I awoke this morning to a house without electricity.  Luckily, the store has electricity (I've never been so excited to be here).  I know I shouldn't complain as there are so many other people who have it worse (Chicago I don't know how you do it!).  Because our houses are so cold I've had a few people in the store working on their Valentines (might as well stay active and check things off your list).  If you like these Hayden Avery designed Valentines go to PVE Design and enter Patricia's drawing for them (you'll receive 12 of each design).  If you don't win the drawing you can still buy them from us, either as single cards or in larger quantities.
Thanks so much Patricia!

Valentine Season

In elementary school I always liked giving and receiving Valentines (regardless if they were store bought or hand-made).  I also enjoyed the Valentine's party (aka - candy & cookies) that the room mothers would put together.  It was a fun day for me.  I guess that is why even as an adult I kind of like Valentine's Day (even though I am sure many of you would argue that it is a commercial holiday).  With all of that being said, you'll then understand why I was excited to see that The Paper Menu had sent some new Valentine card designs.  Each of these designs measures 4 1/4" by 5 1/2" and has envelopes.  A set of 20 is $20 and a set of 40 is $35.  If you order by the 5th of February they will be delivered by the 12th of February.
